De familie Cortelyou (ook: Correljé) verhuisden vanuit Noord Frankrijk via Wallonië omstreeks 1610 naar Utrecht Nederland. Circa 1655 emigreerd Jacques Correljé (1625-1693) naar Amerika en wordt ingeschreven onder de naam Cortelyou. Jacques zijn ouders, zijn ook de Stamouders van mijn familie 'Correljé' (zie genealogie Correljé). Deze genealogie moet en kan nog verder worden uitgebreid. De familie Cortelyou heeft in de Verenigde Staten veel personen op vooraanstaande en belangrijke posities voortgebracht zoals o.a. George Bruce Cortelyou welke werkzaam was onder verschillende Amerikaanse presidenten op het Witte Huis, maar ook o.a : Consulting Engineerings bureau (Transportation, Highways, Railroads and Bridges), Architect, Transportbedrijf, ect. Informatie over het Cortelyou House [see - 1: 'Fotos en Documenten'] Originally built in 1699 by Dutchman Klaes Arents Vecht. The house remained in the Vecht family until just prior to the American Revolution, when it was rented to an Isaac Cortelyou (1736-1811); his father, Jacques (1707-1765), bought the property in 1790. [see - 2: 'Fotos en Documenten'] The Old Stone House, is a modern reconstruction of the Vechte- Cortelyou House, a 1699 Dutch stone farmhouse with important ties to American history. Today, the Old Stone House is operated as a historic interpretive center dedicated to its crucial role in the American Revolution and in the evolving histo-ries of Brooklyn, New York and the United States. The Old Stone House serves as a dynamic community resource through its education programs and events.
